Google Cloud – Closing the Data Gap in Elite Sport
Chrome Productions
Overview
For International Women’s Day, Google Cloud and Chrome Productions created a film showing how data and AI help close the performance gap for women in elite sport. Featuring Formula E drivers Jamie Chadwick and Chloe Chambers and England Lionesses Lotte Wubben‑Moy, Georgia Stanway and Laura Blindkilde Brown, the spot blends intense training visuals with a narrative about the “invisible” data work behind the scenes.
JETSONIX handled mix and sound design, building a sonic world that kept the story and data as powerful as the athletes on screen.
Challenge
The film needed to juggle dense VO, emotionally driven music and glitch / distortion moments that represent “old voices” and outdated thinking, all inside a 56‑second runtime and an evolving edit, without losing clarity, impact or momentum.
Creative Execution
Shaped VO tone and presence so “VO is king,” while preserving the drive and emotional lift of the music.
Created micro‑pauses and re‑timed key phrases, so the most important lines land without breaking natural performance.
Designed glitch and “old radio” treatments on selected lines to separate past bias from present reality and underline the idea of inherited limitations.
Built exertion and training soundbeds (breaths, impacts, movement) so every sequence feels physical and immediate without cluttering the midrange.
Joined a live review session with Chrome and Google Cloud to explore VO spacing options, alternate takes and effects intensity in real time, while clearly outlining what was and wasn’t possible within the locked picture.
Balanced the full mix from gritty, distorted opening through to a powerful, music‑driven finale, delivering a coherent sonic arc for the hero film.
